In progress......

Finally, all the bamboo arrived HBP...

Our connector, so heavy!!

X-men helped us to cut the connector.

We had to shape the connector.

A lot of work had to be done!

A couple??

We fired the connector to fix the shape.

Marking the position which wanted to drill...

Our today's final product which waiting to be drilled.

Today, we had to carried the bamboo from site to HBP, luckily the lorry from Jambatan Keselamatan helped us. After that, we was busy to do the connector part. Of course, it is not an easy job for us....

Tiring Monday

We tried to fixed the connector on it...

The situation on the lab...

The latest way to fix connector.

Our second method to fix connector, but failed!!

Pak Cik at lab helped us to cut bamboo according to the shape.

Cutting bamboo....

Discussion of our progress...

Paying 100% attention.

This morning was unforgettable, suffering from my muscle pain after Kong Fu club's training, Foong, my course mate rushed to my room." Eh? wake up already? We have to bring all the bamboo to studio!" Thanks for his information, then leaving me in my room to continue my morning blur!!

Of course, we carried our bamboo from the site to HBP, I thought it was the craziest moment in my life. The sunlight, the weight of bamboo and the cars on the road, my head became more dizzy.Luckily, we got rest after putting the bamboo in bas.

Then, we started our class. 1b wanted us to have done all the material of ibu pondok on this Friday. The main task was fixing the connector on two side of bamboo. Then, we all dismissed.

After that, we checked our bamboo, discovering that, almost all the bamboo could not be used. At this moment, I almost wanted to cry.

We went back to the site again, and chose again. Haiz~~ We worked about 4 hours, tiring, boring. But it is enjoyable to see what we had done.

Looking forward

Because of the inhumanity of the human being, the earth are crying.

2012 are the punishment from the sky.

All the existing structure and service will be destroyed!!

We are now living in a highly-advanced civilization that will be turned into dust in 2012.

As a human being, we try to survive in this disaster.

The stronger our desire to survive, the greater our chance of survival.

So, 1st thing, I must maintain my right attitude and motivation for survival.

I will try to buy enough survival material, food for at east 1 year, seeds of vegetable (grains, rice and etc) , essential equipment to start a mini- civilization.

Of course, I have no enough money to get up the craft that prepared for rich people, I will find a list of possible survival places and go there before the disaster.

Yes, my chance to survive must be smaller than well-organised group but it is better than not doing anything.

Most important, after the disaster, we have to rebuild the civilization on this earth again. I will put all my effort on this in case of I am surviving.

Looking back

It was already 3 months in USM. In these 3 months, I experienced 360 spins in my life. Before coming to this campus, I was a little boy who always dream for finishing my tertiary education in university. But when the opening ceremony, I told myself:" Finally, I come here."

But, all the things changed, In the orientation week of HBP, I cannot bear the busy lifestyle- walking from my hostel to school, the distance is too long. haiz~~Every times I see the moon in the sky, just realising the life at home is most happy.

Actually, at here, still feel happy because I get know with my friends. They are really nice. I wanted to thank them at here, for their forgiveness at my rudeness. I am happy to cooperate with them. Yes of course, sometimes, we have some small fighting, but there was no effect for our friendship.

Still remember, our fist project was bamboo sound tool. A exciting journey to find the bamboo started in the forest that near the USM. By using the facility in HBP, I designed my 1st bamboo sound tool.
In RAG132, we had to produce a dome. Luckily, the lecturer told us about the dome calculator, we could calculate all the length of the edge of dome!! I cannot believe that I had done it!! Although it was the best 1, but i appreciate my masterpiece~~
'
When I did my mask, i realised that the importance of cooperation with friends. Without friends, I cant put the clay in to my face.Yes! the mask is a tool to hide our emotion, but did us realise that, we always masks us in our daily life??
Most exciting event is the Merdeka countdown, until now, i can't believe our group performance had been chosen in the event..."In unity, we are the one! we are unbreakable!!" we shouted out for our group, so proud with this achievement!! ha~~
Before that, my senior told me, the 1st year is the enjoyable year and there are more busy in 2nd year. So from now, i should tried my best to do all the assignment and study hard for my brighter future!!

Jewish Cemetery and Monument

After Raya, 1b wanted us to produce a monument for our self, this time,we had to visit the cemetery of the most intelligent races in the world- Jewish.

According to wikipedia, the Jews (Hebrew: יְהוּדִים‎ "Yehudim" IPA: huːdiːm), also known as the Jewish people, are a nation and ethnoreligious group originating in the Israelites or Hebrews of the Ancient Near East. The Jewish ethnicity, nationality, and religion are strongly interrelated, as Judaism is the traditional faith of the Jewish nation.[6][7][8] Converts to Judaism, whose status as Jews within the Jewish ethnos is equal to those born into it, have been absorbed into the Jewish people throughout the millennia.

In the trip, I started to think about the meaning of life, is it too short or too long for us? In the long journey of life, what should we do to appreciate the people around us? The answers are still in finding process....

The monuments at there had various type of shape, it showed the ancient beauty and aesthetic element. In every monument, laying a human being who used to live at 19 centuries.

After the journey, my mind cannot be peace....

The entrance of the Jewish Cemery.

The information at the front door.

The monuments that in the cemetery...

Actually, I am quite dislike the atmosphere at there, scary!!

Every monument told us a story about a Jews.

The star of David, the symbols of devil??

Shape 1 of the monument.

Shape 2 of the monument.

Shape 3 of the monument.

Shape 4 of the monument.

The HBP students are busy to observe the monuments...

My monument- The inspiration of life.

After the trip, I had come out my monument- inspiration of life. You can see there were two balls in my monument, it represented the two world, the hell and paradise. Actually, the hell and paradise can not be separated, their relationship are connected. The spiral shape around two balls are the ways directed to this 2 world, different peoples had different ways to come this 2 worlds according to what had they done when they alive. The inspirations come out from the Buddha Theory- Karma.

6A: Survival Kit on Ibu

When I started to do my assignment, I design the shape of the Ibu Pondok. From the website issued by lecturer, 1b, Ibu Pondok is Inter-Pondok Bastionary Unit. And it plays many important roles during the disaster. Its roles are stated as below:
  • Central control
  • Monitoring the activities in each pondok
  • Where the pondok can physically link
  • Eqquipped with the same provision as pondok
  • Clinic
  • Pondok detectors
  • Navigation tools
  • Engine- operated life rafts
  • Sustaining 40 days/ nights of battering

For the aesthetic value, I designed the shape of Ibu Pondok in flower with six petals. From the image, the Ibu Pondok linked to 12 pondoks in the star shape with 6 angles.

It is the ways that the Ibu Pondok linked to the pondok.

The comparison of the size of Ibu pondok and pondok.

The image above showed the real situation when the Ibu Pondok floating with the pondoks.

For the structure for Ibu Pondok,

TNT- As a Novel Photocatalyzer,2008 – By applying TNT Photocatalyzer on the surface of the Ibu Pondok, purification of the polluted air can be carried on. Besides that, TNT can be applied easily on any surface for antibacterial protection to decompose organic compound or pollutant.

CHITEC: A Biodegradable Polymer for Residue Oil Flocsorb,2004- a natural, modified carbohydrate Biopolymer which has excellent properties such as bio-degradability,biocompability, adsorption property, flocculating ability, anti-bacterial property and polyelectrolisity. Most important, it is ecological friendly and suitable to be the material for the surface.

CX-Low Cost High Perfomance Mineral Filler from Waste Broken Matble -Turning Waste to Wealth,2007- mCC is cheap high performance calcium carbonate filler which has been reengineered in terms of physical and chemically for the specific need. The particle size of mCC is very small and resulted outstanding performance in construction. Absolutely, it is the best material for the base of the Ibu Pondok.

Hand-Lay Up Epoxy Hybrid Nanocomposites,2008- The epoxy/ clay/ glass fiber nanocompasites are produced by hand-lay up technique. Its flexibility allows the manufacturing of varieties shapes, since it has no size limitation. In conclusion, the excellent flexural properties and good thermal properties of the epoxy hybrid nanocomposites make it suitable to be used in the application of structural panel and wall tile.

A New Adhesive from Waste Polystryrene,2007- An adhesive product from waste polystyrene. The product showed the excellent physical and mechanical properties for the application on different materials, such as glass, wood, plastic and cardboard. So, it can be used in jointing the structural panel in construction of Ibu Pondok.

Material from USM’s invention made the structure of Ibu Pondok become firm and light enough to float at the surface of the water. In this plight, I believe that Ibu pondok can sustain and withstand the destruction of natural disaster, such as tornado, thunder storm and etc.

For the water supply in Ibu Pondok:

ULC Agro-fiber Modular Septic Tank,2006- prefabricated ISTs are made from fiberglass, a mixture of glass fiber and unsaturated polyester. It exhibited very high impact and toughness characteristics as compared to conventional fiberglass septic tank. Most important, it is cheap, light, chemical resistant, low thermal conductivity and environmental friendly, suitable to be water storage in Ibu pondok.

ClaySorb : Novel Clay-Based Adsorbent for Wastewater Treatment,2004- ClaySorb is clay-based beads of different sizes prepared by using economically processing techniques. It is very effective to adsorb different toxic pollutants from wastewater of textile, heavy chemical, petrochemical and refining oil industries. ClaySorb can be the important part of the purification of water to ensure the supply of water in Ibu Pondok.

For the communication and ventilation system:

Rice Husk Ash-Based Sorbent-Catalyst As A Novel Industrial Gas Cleaning Technology,2007- RHA/ CaO- supported cerium oxide can act as a sorbent to absorb SO2 and at the same time act as a catalyst to promote catalytic activity to remove N2O and NO. We can applied this High-Tec to clean the gas that produce in the engine room of Ibu Pondok .

Novel Dielectric Antenna For Wireless Application,2007- dielectric resonator antennas can have a wider impedance bandwidth than micro strip patches, a very high radiation efficiency, smaller than conventional metal antennas and more resistant to proximity detuning when placed close to another object. Its excellent properties can be used for received information from outside during the disaster.

MULTIMEDIA CONFERENCING SYSTEM (MCS),2006- MCS is a complete conferencing solution with audio and video conferencing, integrated chat and real-time document conferencing. MCS alsocan support video conferencing in H.323 mode. It can be used in Ibu Pondok in the conference among the Pondok’s captain.

The plan of the Ibu Pondok:

From the plan above, we know the overall structure of Ibu Pondok, some invention of USM can be used at here:

Engine room: This room can be a “heart” of Ibu Pondok, the engine generates the power and energy for Ibu pondok to move.

Activity Hall: Various types of activity take place at here, the people can gather at here for activity.

Library: Various types of book are arranged neatly on the bookshelf. The people can read the books at here.

Laundry: During the disaster period, it is hard to wash our cloth, so better to send to laundry to solve our problem. Heat Pump Assisted Clothes Dryer, 2004 can be used in this moment, drying of a batch of spin-dried clothes takes about 45 minutes for close system mode and 60 minutes for the open system mode compared to 150 minutes in a commercial dryer and more than 282 minutes for natural drying indoors. It help us to save our time to wash our cloth!!

Clinic: During the disaster period, various types of the disease are spread in Pondok, so a clinic in Ibu Pondok is necessary. Some invention of the school of pharmaceutical science can be used, for example, Haruan Spray for Burn and Wound, 2007 and Eurynones: A potential Herbal-based Antimalarial Product, 2005. Haruan Spray reduces pain by spraying the aerosol and makes the skin of patient feels comfortable. Eurynones soft gel capsule contain 50 mg of Tongkat Ali extract which has been manufactured by a novel extraction, purification and chromatographic technology.Eurynones capsule is recommended for malarial infection.

Conference room/ monitoring room: At this room, the important conference is carried out among the pondok captain. As stated before, MULTIMEDIA CONFERENCING SYSTEM (MCS),2006 can be used. Besides that, the movement and the situation of the pondok can be controlled at this room.
